Network Engineer II

Responsibilities

With the Sr. Security Engineer, research, plan, implement, and maintain communications equipment in the home offices. Backup Network Engineer I on county office connectivity
Research, plan, and implement upgrades to network and network infrastructure as needed
Maintain the highest level of network security allowed for according to business model
Monitor network performance and make adjustments as deemed necessary
Troubleshoot wired and wireless connectivity issues for home office users, county users, and vpn users
Develop and maintain appropriate Disaster Recovery procedures for core equipment, remote sites and complete documentation
Maintain appropriate documentation on current network practices and equipment
Position has responsibility for a component of IT security for their functional area
Develop and maintain a positive relationship with equipment vendors and company personnel
Provide management and team members detailed information concerning current technical issues
Superb communications/interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with others
Positive, customer-focused attitude
Must be able to solve highly complex technical problems
Must know how to read, analyze and interpret procedures, instructions and technical documents
Must know how to research and analyze trends in the IT industry
Must be able to solve problems and understand when it is necessary to seek assistance in the performance of work
Ability to manage multiple projects and activities independently as well as work in a team environment
Ability to follow sound business ethics when executing job responsibilities
An understanding of the importance of procedures and the need to follow them is required
Must have an understanding of the importance of learning is never-ending
Must be a self-motivated individual, willing to constantly evaluate the environment for improvement
Be available for 24/7 on-call rotation
Some travel required with occasional overnight trips

Required

Bachelor's degree is required: preferably in information systems or computer science
Three to five years' work experience in information technology field: preferably in network field
Outstanding Knowledge of Core Networking functions (Routing, Switching, OSI Model)
Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license and maintain a driving record that complies with the Underwriting guides for the Mutual Insurance Company
Extensive knowledge of the Operating System used on desktops and laptops is required
Advanced skill in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications in required, including Visio
Be available for 24/7 on-call rotation
Some travel required with occasional overnight trips
Superb communications/interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with others
Positive, customer-focused attitude
Must be able to solve highly complex technical problems
