Civil/Geotechnical Intern

They are seeking a Civil/Geotechnical Intern to support their geotechnical engineering team with dams and water resources projects, offering an opportunity to gain experience in the consulting engineering industry.

Responsibilities
Support Tetra Tech geotechnical engineers with meeting project deadlines and goals
Organize, file, and maintain project documents and reports to ensure proper record-keeping and compliance
Support the collection, entry, and management of field data
Maintain databases and spreadsheets to track project progress, metrics, and deliverables
Participate in site visits to assist technical staff with field observations, technical note taking, and data collection as needed
Assist in preparing meeting agendas, minutes, and correspondence related to project activities
Assist in compiling data and preparing draft reports or presentations for project updates and stakeholder communications
Perform other duties as assigned, based on project needs and priorities
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, geological engineering, geotechnical engineering, or related field, from an accredited university or a recent graduate from such program
Excellent technical writing skills that include the ability to read and comprehend technical and scientific information
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all team members is important
Ability to travel for field work and site investigations (local & remote) as needed. Travel is estimated to be 5% during the internship duration
Ability to stand or walk for long periods during site investigations, including the ability to kneel, crouch, or stoop when inspecting sites
Ability to lift and carry materials/equipment up to 50 pounds
Willingness and ability to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions (heat, rain, wind, cold) for extended periods of time
Ability to sit at a workstation and use a computer for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours/day)
Manual dexterity to use a computer mouse, keyboard, and other tools
Ability to communicate effectively in-person and via electronic means
Preferred
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, gINT, or AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus
Interest in dam engineering - eager to support and learn more about site investigations, seepage evaluation, slope stability and seismic analyses, etc
