Spec Radio Communications

UF Health Jacksonville is seeking a Radio Communications Specialist who will monitor EMS communications and ensure the safe launching and flight following of TraumaOne helicopters. The role requires maintaining composure during stressful situations and a solid understanding of emergency medical terminology and radio communication protocols.

Responsibilities

Monitor EMS communications and provide safe launching and flight following of the TraumaOne helicopters or any other helicopter requesting use of our UF Health Jacksonville helipad

Required

High school diploma or GED
Must possess fundamental knowledge of the Baker Audio Phone/Radio System
Must be able to multi task and maintain composure during stressful times
Must maintain understanding of current Emergency Medical terminology, Fire/Rescue radio codes and signals, FCC rules and regulations, and FAA regulations relating to EMS
Must possess fundamental working knowledge of UHF/VHF radio equipment, portable radios, and radio recording devices
Requires basic computer skills and ability to operate multiple phone lines
Current Florida EMT Certification or current Florida Paramedic License or Current NREMT Certification
Effective December 1, 2014 existing employees must convert NREMT Certification to State of Florida Licensure by March 31, 2015 and new hire/transfers must convert within 6 month of the date of hire or transfer
Current Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification/Public Safety Telecommunicator with one (1) year of EMD experience
Less than one year of experience in a health care setting or EMS Communication setting

Preferred

Previous experience as a dispatcher
NAACS Certification
