Civil Engineer - Transportation Design

Responsibilities

Develop design criteria, roadway geometry, traffic control, and signing and pavement markings, drainage systems, stormwater management
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects
Develop technical reports, tables, and graphics per client and/or internal AECOM standards
Perform engineering calculations and analyses to support project designs and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations
Adhere to and promote AECOM quality procedures
Conduct site visits and field investigations to gather data and assess existing conditions
Prepare presentations that explain technical findings, recommendations, and limitations
Work collaboratively as part of a larger design team to proactively meet the client’s scope, budget, and schedule through ethical and responsible decision making
Provide support to AECOM project managers and department managers

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent engineering degree plus four (4) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification
Demonstrated experience using Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD), AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or similar design highway or transportation design applications

Preferred

Design experience with VDOT projects
Experience in civil engineering with an emphasis on Roadway, Drainage, and Traffic projects
Ability and willingness to offer mentorship to various levels of staff
Ability and willingness to operate within a hybrid work schedule environment with hybrid teams
Professional Engineer (PE) License in any state, or ability to obtain PE within 1 year of hire
Degree accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET
