Responsibilities

Utilize artistry and pedagogical knowledge to implement an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning that encourages students to engage, create and reflect
Plan with partner teachers, partner social workers, and/or school staff members, as necessary
Submit all paperwork, such as lesson plans and time sheets, in accordance with program guidelines
Attend and actively participate in all required orientations and Professional Learning workshops, and meetings
Collaborate with classroom teachers and school administrators
Maintain open communication with Arts Education Department staff

Required

Have at least 2 years' experience as a Teaching Artist in their respective art form and expertise, ideally in NYC public schools
Hold a strong understanding of arts integration best practices and strategies
Focus on the intersection of the arts and Social Emotional Learning/Competencies
Possess strong collaboration skills with classroom teachers, other teaching artists, social workers, administrators, etc
Be experienced in lesson planning/creating curriculum for K-12 students
TA must utilize their artistry and pedagogical knowledge to implement an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning that encourages students to engage, create and reflect
TA must be fingerprinted by the NYC Department of Education (PETS Certified) and currently eligible for work in NYC public schools
TA must be willing and available to plan with partner teachers, partner social workers, and/or school staff members, as necessary
TA must submit all paperwork, such as lesson plans and time sheets, in accordance with program guidelines
TA must attend and actively participate in all required orientations and Professional Learning workshops, and meetings
TA must be willing to collaborate with classroom teachers and school administrators
TA must maintain open communication with Arts Education Department staff
