Responsibilities
Maintain the physical workspace, ensuring it is safe, clean, and organized
Oversee and conduct repair sessions, including offering guidance and mentorship for DIY bike repairs
Manage inventory, including ordering parts and maintaining a record of repairs and bike fleet maintenance
Support the functionality of multiple bike centres as needed, with travel between York and TMU campuses
Provide cycling education to the public, including workshops, repair tutorials, and safety sessions
Plan and execute community rides and other engagement activities
Interact with clients and community members, serving as a resource for cycling knowledge and promoting the benefits of active transportation
Develop promotional materials and collaborate with the Communications team for publicizing events and services
Supervise and mentor up to 10 volunteers or student staff members
Collaborate with team members to develop and implement programming aligned with community needs
Work closely with the Regenesis team to ensure program goals and operational targets are met
Qualification
Required
Bike Mechanic Skills: Hands-on experience with bicycle repairs, including both modern and vintage bikes
Public Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and inspire people about cycling
Teamwork: Willingness to collaborate, adapt, and work effectively as part of a diverse team
Organizational Skills: Capable of managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and keeping accurate records
Communication Skills: Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to beginners and community members
Flexibility: Willingness to commute between campuses and adjust based on program needs
Passion for Cycling: A deep enthusiasm for cycling, sustainability, and community engagement
Preferred
Previous experience in community bike centres or repair shops
Certification from a bike mechanic training program
Experience in organizing public events or workshops
Familiarity with cycling advocacy and safety education
