Development Specialist I

Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization serving nearly 30,000 people in rural Alaska. This role assists in providing services to families of children aged 0-3, including eligibility testing and developmental assessments, while supporting the ILP team and facilitating play groups.

Responsibilities

Assist and support DS II and DS III in the provision of services to families of children age 0-3 in the YK Delta
Help in the administrations of eligibility testing within 45 days of referral
Assist with developmental assessments
Organize family contact, family follow for relevant services
Be a member of the ILP team and support Napartet with value added ideas, patient centered excellence, and ILP standards of excellence
Facilitate play group

Required

Minimum Education: High School Diploma/AA degree preferred in early childhood, related field, or Child Developmental Associate (CDA) or PAT training. Candidate will be required to obtain an AA in Early Childhood or a closely related field to be eligible for continued employment after three years from DOH
Minimum Experience: Early childhood experience. Knowledge and willingness to learn and apply working knowledge of early childhood development
Licensing/Certification: Early childhood experience. Knowledge and willingness to learn and apply working knowledge of early childhood development. Eligible to be certified as SEED 7-8
Equipment/Tools: Computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, Power point, faxing, scanning, e-mailing. Requires travel to villages via small plane under sub-artic conditions
Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Family Assessment, Parents as Teachers program. Any behavioral, social, language, developmental training

Preferred

Home visiting experience preferred
Experience with Special Needs children preferred
Prefer experience with Medicaid, Denali Kid Care, data systems and data entry
