Design Engineer Intern (Summer 2026)

Pacific Scientific Energetic Materials Company (PacSci EMC) is seeking a Design Engineer Intern to join their Engineering team for Summer 2026. This internship is designed for students graduating in 2026–2027 who are eager to gain hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical design, CAD modeling, and engineering documentation within a fast-paced aerospace and defense environment.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing working plans, detailed drawings, and complete mechanical or electrical component and assembly drawings
Support engineering and manufacturing teams by working from notes, instructions, and sketches
Collaborate with technical engineers to ensure model accuracy and adherence to drafting/design standards
Verify completed work by checking dimensions, materials, and quantities
Contribute to maintaining configuration control and document management standards
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required

Junior or senior standing in 2026 or 2027, currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
Working knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and drafting software (SolidWorks preferred)
Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ANSI Y14.5 standards
Familiarity with configuration control and document management systems is a plus
Machine shop knowledge or experience with manufacturing techniques and tool design is desirable
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with peers
Due to contractual and regulatory requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role. PacSci EMC is a U.S. Department of State ITAR-regulated employer. To comply with ITAR-controlled contracts, this position requires U.S. citizenship
