Responsibilities
Primary job responsibilities will include working with senior Schnabel Principal’s and consultant staff to develop a vibration monitoring and Performance Based Evaluation (PBE) group for large civil structures and systems associated with dams
Training related to engineering technologies that are utilized in vibration testing and PBE disciplines
Present papers and submit articles for publication that summarize the technology and development in the PBE discipline (e.g., USSD, ASDSO, NHA and CEATI)
Assist plan performance-based field testing and assist in field testing activities
Develop structural models to simulate test response
Work with test data to evaluate current load post-tension anchors
Evaluate structural behavior using systems theory, fragility techniques, and performance limits
Use PBE techniques to support structural assessment and evaluation of concrete dams due to earthquake events
Collaborate with peers in offices across the U.S. and across various technical disciplines to achieve project goals and to expand the application of PBE techniques to new areas of civil infrastructure
Support the development of engineering proposals and qualification statements
Qualification
Required
Graduate level degree in Civil Engineering or equal, with at least 10 years of professional or academic experience
Understanding of structural system behavior and evaluation related to concrete dams, hydraulic structures, and other appurtenant structures
Experience/proficiency with common computer-aided analysis and modeling programs applicable to these technical areas
Excellent oral and written communication skills
A strong work ethic and the desire to perform professionally at a high level
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Attention to detail and well-organized
Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
