Maintenance Technician I
High Tech High is an integrated network of charter schools serving students in grades K-12 across four campuses in San Diego County. The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintaining school facilities, including HVAC, mechanical systems, and general preventative maintenance across multiple locations.

Responsibilities
Maintain and repair HTH facilities, equipment, and assets by utilizing multiple craft skills (for example, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, landscaping, furniture, food equipment) and using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete jobs
Proactively identify and act on areas to clean, fix, and improve within our school campuses
Learn from and teach others to expand the team knowledge base
Work well both independently and as part of a team
Utilize the work order management system to receive reactive repair - Work Orders to support schools and document repair activities
Set up and tear down for events held at school sites
Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls
Inspect, operate, or test facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues
Complete all required training requirements to operate equipment and tools safely
Perform a wide variety of tasks to maintain facilities, utilities, labs, and classrooms in use-ready, compliant state
Interface with customers, vendors, and team members in support of facility initiatives, work request completion, or other duties as assigned in a professional and team-oriented manner
Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment
Train junior staff in facilities maintenance trades and safety procedures; assist management to determine training needs for the team
Assist management in planning and scheduling preventative maintenance work and recommend approaches to preventative maintenance programs
Travel between facilities to support all functional areas
Regular and reliable attendance on a full time basis
Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices
Perform related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bilingual preferred: Able to read/write/speak in English and Spanish
Knowledge of HVAC systems
Able to drive a manual ('stick-shift') vehicle
Some computer knowledge
Maintenance experience in the areas of plumbing, electrical, painting, patching, landscaping, repairing a variety of doors and locks, repairs of other IT equipment, repairs on various things like furniture, desks, buildings, lights, ballasts
Experience cleaning buildings
Experience with using floor scrubber, carpet cleaner, various types of backpacks, power washers
TB Clearance and Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
Valid driver's license and good driving record
Lift a minimum of 25 pounds
Sit or stand for extended periods of time
Hear and speak to communicate and exchange information
See to work on documents and computer systems to perform tasks
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate and repair equipment
Kneel, bend at the waist, and reach overhead, above shoulders and horizontally to setup, repair, and/or troubleshoot equipment as needed
Climb a ladder and/or operate a lift as needed to setup, repair, and/or troubleshoot equipment as needed
