Utility Sales Director
eSmart Systems is a company focused on growing its market share in North America, and they are seeking an experienced Utility Sales Director to join their team. The role involves closing new business deals with utilities and driving revenue growth while building long-term partnerships.

Responsibilities
Own the full sales cycle from prospecting to contract negotiation and close
Become expert in regional market developments and policy
Develop and execute strategic account plans for key utility targets
Consistently meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets
Build and manage a robust pipeline of utility prospects across North America
Identify emerging opportunities in grid modernization, wildfire mitigation, resiliency and inspections
Represent eSmart Systems at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events
Drive awareness and interest in eSmart’s Grid Vision® and AI-powered solutions
Understand customer pain points and position eSmart’s solutions as strategic value drivers
Deliver compelling product demos and presentations tailored to utility stakeholders
Collaborate with customer success and product teams to ensure smooth onboarding and long-term satisfaction
Work closely with marketing to refine messaging and campaigns for the utility sector
Provide market feedback to inform product development and positioning
Partner with internal leadership to shape regional go-to-market strategies
Qualification
Required
3-5+ of direct selling experience into electric utilities
Proven track record of commercial success in the enterprise software and complex deals
Experience with CRM tools (e.g. HubSpot), sales engagement platforms and data analytics
Deep domain expertise in the energy utility industry, understanding grid operations, asset management, and the challenges faced by utilities
Strong product and technology background, with the ability to understand complex software solutions (SaaS, AI/ML, data analytics) and communicate technical concepts effectively
Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels
Ability to travel as required for client meetings, partner engagements, industry events, and internal meetings
Preferred
Experience of working in a scale-up organization
