Payroll Analyst I (2994) - Administration
Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group is seeking a Payroll Analyst I to support their Payroll and Accounting team in Newport News. The role involves processing payroll, managing invoices, and ensuring data integrity while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
Processes semi-monthly payroll and ensures data integrity for the payroll, HRIS and Sage accounting system
Processes employee time sheets and checks for accuracy. Clarifies inconsistencies in payroll data with supervisors
Helps employees understand payroll calculations and deductions, investigate problems and makes appropriate corrections
Generates reports/queries from payroll and accounting systems, including writing, maintaining and supporting a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools. Assists in the development of standard reports for ongoing internal customer needs. Helps maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data
Verifies and inputs vacation and sick leave banks for contracted employees
Analyzes overtime reports and alerts supervisors if there are concerns or trends in overtime utilization
Calculates overtime, differential and other special adjustments and rates for records
Calculates tax deductions, benefits and other deductions for unusual or changed payroll data
Generates and distributes manual checks when applicable
Processes invoice data entry for accounts payable
Assists with document management by scanning and filing
Maintains strictest confidentiality
Qualification
Required
Prior experience in payroll processing and HRIS/Payroll software systems
Advanced skills in Excel (filters, pivot tables, v-lookup, conditional formatting, and calculations)
Advanced knowledge of HRIS systems, Microsoft Office products – specifically Excel spreadsheets and business enterprise software applications
Knowledge of payroll and accounting practices and procedures
Knowledge of IRS regulations relating to pay and benefits
Skill in interpreting and analyzing payroll data
Skill in examining documents for correctness and interpreting their accuracy
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Ability to perform mathematical computations and compute ratios and percentages
Ability to prepare comprehensive reports
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of financial matters
Ability to communicate and work effectively with others
High school diploma or GED required
3 or more years of payroll experience with HRIS and Accounting systems
Preferred
An associate's degree or higher in a related field
Associate's degree in business administration or a related field preferred
