Buro Happold is an innovative engineering consultancy seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their hybrid team in Chicago. The Associate Principal Mechanical Engineer will provide technical expertise and leadership, managing project resources and client relationships while guiding junior engineers in their development.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership for project teams driving successful outcomes and ensuring project objectives are delivered

Lead the design and technical specifications of mechanical systems, ensuring quality output

Manage project resources, client relationships, and deliver high-quality solutions

Guide graduates and other junior engineers through their professional development

Communicate directly with clients and maintain client relationships

Actively contribute ideas and innovative solutions across various projects

Direct multiple projects across the group, ensuring the successful implementation of engineering solutions while ensuring financial success

Ensure practices, policies, strategy, and services represent the client’s best interests and comply with current legislation and building codes

Required

12+ years of extensive experience in Mechanical Engineering design within the building services and construction industry

Demonstrated experience in a senior role within MEP for an architectural engineering consultancy

BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or relevant degree

P.E., professional engineer

Experience using Revit and computational analysis tools

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, teams, and deadlines while ensuring client satisfaction

Preferred

LEED AP accredited preferred

Ideal sector experience in Aviation/Transportation, Cultural Projects, Labs, Commercial, and Higher Education
