Co-op: Materials Engineer - Focus Wear and Durability
ESTAT Actuation is a university startup that specializes in electroadhesives and robotics components. They are seeking a Co-op Materials Engineer to improve product longevity by sourcing new materials, performing durability testing, and supporting quality control for their electroadhesive products.

Responsibilities
Assist with literature reviews
Identify and source new candidate materials for use in electroadhesive products
Perform testing to determine the durability of materials and their electroadhesive performance
Help develop new test protocols
Support incoming quality control of standard materials and production of robotics components
Assist with environmental testing of the Light Weight Electroadhesive Exotendon (LEET) system for fighter pilot neck protection
Opportunity to visit labs that conduct mil-spec testing such as Keystone Compliance
Make products compatible with new applications, improve performance, and expand market
Qualification
Required
Student must be a Junior or Senior, but lower classman with exceptional hands-on experience may be considered
Self-motivated students who love making things happen
Experience working with a team towards a goal
Mastered the basics of their field and be ready to learn more on the job
Skills in scientific experimentation, creative problem solving, literature reviews, physical testing, statistical analysis, Matlab, Python, supplier interactions, documentation, compliance testing, and presentation skills
Preferred
Students considering two 6 month rotations
Experience with electroadhesives
