Assistant Teaching Professor of Mechanical Engineering

The University of Missouri – Saint Louis (UMSL) is inviting applications for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor of Mechanical Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses, mentoring students, and contributing to the department's teaching mission.

Responsibilities

Teaching undergraduate courses and laboratories in Mechanical Engineering
Developing and enhancing curriculum materials to support student learning
Setting up the new teaching labs
Advising and mentoring undergraduate students, and design competitions
Assisting with student recruitment and retention and student success initiatives
Promoting ethical standards and professional values in the classroom and beyond
Contributing to departmental services, ABET Accreditation, program assessment, and program development
Collaborating with faculty to strengthen the undergraduate learning experience

Qualification

Ph.D. in Mechanical EngineeringABET Accreditation experienceTeaching undergraduate coursesMentoring studentsCommitment to experiential learningEffective communication skills

Required

Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
Evidence of mentoring students, with a commitment to inclusive and supportive pedagogy
Experience with the ABET Accreditation process
Evidence of excellence in teaching or strong potential for effective teaching
Effective communication skills and commitment to experiential learning and student success
Ability to teach undergraduate courses and labs
