Responsibilities

Research and publish on the collection
Participate in gallery installations, writing labels, etc
Respond to public inquiries and assist scholars
Contribute to scholarship on art historical theory and museum practices as they pertain to works of art in the collection & their historical contexts
Present engaging scholarly lectures and public presentations tailored to a wide range of diverse audiences
Research new acquisitions
Represent the Department to supporters and colleagues nationally and internationally
Support institutional records management guidelines and procedures for the department

Qualification

Required

Ph.D. in Classical Art and/or Archaeology required
Excellent language skills-ancient Greek and/or Latin preferred
Ten years of demonstrated experience in accomplishing original research on objects of the various regions and cultures represented by the collections of the Greek and Roman Art Department
Ability to maintain precise and careful records
Excellent computer skills
Ability to work closely with all staff within the Department and with colleagues throughout the Museum, as well as the international academic community
Genuine interest in making works of art accessible to the layman as well as the specialist, thus a strong facility in written and oral communication

Excellent language skills-ancient Greek and/or Latin preferred
