This role involves performing various tasks for processing and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by the Pathologist, including complex techniques such as enzyme chemistry and immuno histo chemistry.

Responsibilities

Prepares microscopic tissue slides for diagnostic/research purposes; performs tissue stains to assist in diagnosis; handles specimen accessioning; maintains laboratory and equipment
Reviews quality control, performs operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of histology instruments and equipment
Will provide supervision and technical direction to Histology Technician, as requested

Qualification

Histology Technician programHistotechnologist experienceHT ASCP certificationMT/MLT ASCP certificationMicroscopic examination

Required

Bachelor's or Associates degree in an NCCLS-approved Histology Technician program required
2 year of experience as Histotechnologist required
HT ASCP certification preferred
MT /MLT with ASCP and job related experience acceptable
Current non-certified Histotechnologist, who are employed by Piedmont Medical Center, are encouraged to acquire certification
