NEOGOV is seeking an Assistant Attorney General for the Privacy and Data Security Unit within the Consumer Fraud Bureau. This role involves researching and investigating privacy, technology, and data security issues, as well as providing support for the development and implementation of measures to protect sensitive information.

Responsibilities

Research and investigate privacy, technology, and data security related issues

Bring enforcement actions where appropriate

Provide internal support to the Office and Chief Privacy Officer concerning the development and implementation of privacy and data security measures

Conduct investigations and file enforcement actions in state or federal court to stop fraudulent, unfair or deceptive practices

Collaborate with other government and law enforcement agencies, attorneys and advocacy groups on public policy and other matters of law as it pertains to consumer protection

Draft legislation and rules, and participate in events to educate the community on emerging consumer problems and issues

Qualification

Licensed attorney in IllinoisInvestigation experienceLitigation experiencePublic policy experienceInterest in privacy issues

Required

Candidates must be licensed to practice law by the State of Illinois at the time of application

Preferred

Strong interest and experience in investigation, litigation, and/or public policy relating to privacy, technology, and/or data security is preferred, particularly with regards to consumer protection issues
