Intensivist - Critical Care Physician
Equum Medical is focused on innovative telehealth solutions while valuing the importance of bedside care. They are seeking a full-time Intensivist to provide direct patient care in a community hospital, managing critically ill patients in the ICU and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
Provide bedside care for critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU), emergency department, and other acute care settings
Assess, diagnose, and manage complex medical conditions, including respiratory failure, sepsis, and multi-organ dysfunction
Initiate and manage life-saving interventions, including ventilator support, vasopressor therapy, and dialysis
Perform procedures such as central line insertions, arterial line placements, endotracheal intubation, and chest tube insertions as needed
Work closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and specialists, to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Communicate effectively with family members, providing updates on patient status and prognosis, and addressing concerns and expectations
Make real-time decisions regarding critical care interventions, treatment adjustments, and monitoring protocols based on patient response and evolving clinical conditions
Interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., labs, imaging studies) and integrate findings into treatment plans
Provide education to patients and their families about critical illness, treatment options, and recovery expectations
Foster an empathetic and supportive environment, especially when discussing end-of-life decisions and advanced directives
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and medical interventions in the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) system
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and accreditation standards
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety in the critical care unit
Contribute to hospital protocols, best practices, and evidence-based care guidelines
Identify and report safety concerns and participate in root cause analyses and action plans when needed
Qualification
Required
Active NJ medical license in good standing
Valid DEA certification in good standing
Minimum requirement of 14 shifts per month
Board Certified in Critical Care
MD/DO Trained
Must maintain compliance with all licensure and credentialing requirements
Responsible for rounding on and managing 10-12 patients in a 16-bed ICU
Daytime shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Nights Covered by Tele-ICU
Preferred
Previous critical care or acute care experience is preferred
