Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist
CHOC Children's is dedicated to providing exceptional and innovative care for the pediatric population. The Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist is responsible for specimen collection, processing samples, and performing clerical tasks while ensuring excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
Providing skilled specimen collection via venipuncture and capillary sticks
Receiving and processing samples
Packaging samples for send-outs
Distributing samples tested in-house to different testing benches
Carrying out clerical tasks including computer data entry, telephone reception, and other general lab duties
Qualification
Required
Minimum one (1) year phlebotomy experience
High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent
Graduation from Phlebotomist Tech training program
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills
Be a team player
Ability to operate lab equipment and proficient in human venipuncture techniques
Strong attention to detail, vigilance, poise, and composure in stressful situations
Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
Certified Phlebotomist Tech 1 (California)
Preferred
One (1) or more years of infant/pediatric blood collection experience
Completion of some college level courses
