Dean of Instruction—Social Behavioral Sciences and Public Safety & Legal Services Pathways
NEOGOV is seeking a Dean of Instruction for the Social Behavioral Sciences and Public Safety & Legal Services pathways at the Community College of Denver. Responsibilities
Responsible for improving the quality of life and the economic well-being of our citizens and communities by providing access to a quality learning environment and fostering high levels of access and success for all students
Provide vision and leadership, proactive advocacy, and administrative support for faculty and staff within the pathway units
Collaborate with other units of the college, industry partners, and high schools to help implement the strategic plan and fulfill annual priorities that ensure CCD students attain their educational and employment goals
Provide leadership in development and use of effective teaching and learning strategies and outcome assessment tools
Support faculty through program reviews, course and program development, catalog content, scheduling of classes, articulation and transferability of programs, and revision or closure of programs
Create and evaluate current and future programming based on market labor data and emerging workforce needs and facilitate the development process
Secure and manage grants to support the pathways’ and college’s initiatives
Analyze public policy and applicable rules and regulations to ensure programs’ compliance with professional and accreditation standards
Ensure that curricula and degree programs are innovative and promote currency in the field, and coordinate program renewals
Participate in activities that promote inclusion, equity, and diversity
Provide for and facilitate faculty and staff development
Recruit, hire, onboard, supervise, and evaluate faculty, chairs and office staff in the pathway
Form and maintain collaborative partnerships with business, industry, workforce and community agencies, and secondary and other post-secondary educational institutions
Create, maintain, and update articulation agreements between CCD and baccalaureate degree-granting institutions to ensure ease and quality of transfer for CCD students seeking four-year degrees
Participate in advisory board meetings for each program
Serve as a liaison to state and local entities advocating for the institution’s interests and strategic goals
Resolve student and personnel issues when appropriate
Manage SBS and PSLS budgets and provide fiscal accountability for the pathways
Recruit, hire, onboard, supervise and evaluate grant managers and grant-funded positions
Qualification
Required
Master's degree from an accredited college or university
Demonstrated sensitivity to, and an understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of CCD students, faculty, and staff
Three (3) years of experience teaching at a post-secondary college or university
Three (3) years of experience supervising and leading staff, faculty, and instructors
Three (3) years of department grant and/or budget experience
Three (3) years of experience as a leader in strategic planning efforts
Leadership experience in planning, curriculum and instruction, student learning outcomes and assessment, program development, and student retention
Experience with data gathering, analysis, and activating results of findings
Digital literacy in Office 365, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office Teams
Familiarity with web conferencing applications
Knowledge of learning management systems
Data analysis and use of data analytic tools such as PowerBI, Access, and Excel
Preferred
Master's or Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited university in a social and behavioral science, public safety, or legal services related field, or higher education leadership
Knowledge of the Colorado industry and workforce needs
Knowledge of the Colorado secondary and postsecondary systems
