The University of Wisconsin's Department of Anesthesiology is seeking an Anesthesiology Researcher to lead an independent research program and mentor trainees and junior faculty. The role involves providing clinical service, teaching, and developing a funded laboratory in anesthesiology, while also contributing to the strategic direction of the department's research programs.

Responsibilities

Clinical Service. Physician applicants will be given the opportunity, and in many cases expected to, provide clinical service related to their training
An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members
Teaching and Mentoring. The candidate will provide instruction, mentoring, and support for faculty, fellows, residents, and students who are interested and/or involved in research. Educational opportunities may include didactic teaching in the department, the medical school, and the graduate school
The chosen applicant will participate in administrative, and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health
Research. The candidate will be be expected to develop/maintain an independent, funded laboratory in a field related to anesthesiology
The chosen candidate will spend time teaching medical students, residents, and fellows
Leadership. Along with leading their independent laboratory personnel and department learners, the candidate will be also aid in the development and implementation of the department’s long term strategic direction for the basic, clinical, and translational research programs. This includes efforts to promote and enhance research collaboration and the development of team research projects
