Responsibilities

Oversee the paint manufacturing process from a quality perspective, ensuring all operations align with Lucid’s overall quality strategy
Develop and implement quality-focused engineering trials to confirm materials meet industry standards and internal quality objectives
Coordinate with Process Engineers to determine material processes that are best suited for manufacturing equipment while maintaining compliance with quality requirements
Establish and enforce high-quality results for coating systems, validating process specifications and ensuring adherence to quality standards
Lead root cause analysis and corrective action for paint-related defects using advanced quality tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D)
Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to align material development with functional, aesthetic, and quality requirements
Train and mentor quality technicians on inspection techniques and quality standards
Ensure proper use and calibration of specialized inspection equipment (e.g., Elcometer, Wavescan, BYK-maci, PELT)
Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and 6S standards

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of experience in automotive paint quality or process engineering (OEM or Tier 1 preferred)
Strong knowledge of paint shop processes: pre-treatment/e-coat, primer/basecoat/clearcoat systems, robotic application, and curing ovens
Proficiency in quality methodologies (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC) and problem-solving tools
Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Flexibility to support production schedules, including nights and weekends as needed
