They are seeking a Homepage Editor to curate and update the homepage with engaging content while collaborating with various teams to ensure impactful news coverage.

Responsibilities
Program the homepage, balancing the most important, engaging, and attention-grabbing stories of the moment
Use analytics to guide decisions while keeping the needs of our core audience front and center
Collaborate with editors across departments to ensure seamless coverage and story presentation
Serve as a go-to resource for digital publishing best practices across the newsroom
Pitch stories of interest to the California Post audience across all sections
Track performance in real time, making adjustments to maximize reach and engagement
Qualification
Required
At least 5 years of experience as a breaking news/homepage editor in a fast-paced online newsroom
Track record of managing or programming a homepage, ensuring balanced coverage across verticals and highlighting the most important stories of the moment
Strong editorial judgment and communication skills, with a proven ability to prioritize and package stories that drive digital engagement
Hands-on experience with WordPress is required, with comfort navigating a CMS under deadline pressure
Proven ability to write sharp, web-friendly headlines that are optimized for both readers and search engines
Demonstrated familiarity with SEO best practices and how they inform digital publishing strategy
Experience using analytics tools to monitor performance in real time and adjust story framing, placement, and packaging accordingly
Ability to leverage visuals, multimedia, and social media to enhance stories and maximize reach
Comfort working in a highly collaborative environment with editors, reporters, and digital producers, and flexibility to work nights and weekends as news demands
