Cardiac Device Specialist

Responsibilities

Analyzes data from a wide variety of cardiac devices identifying arrhythmias as well as pacing, sensing, or other device abnormalities in addition to evaluating appropriate or inappropriate device interventions for arrhythmias
Reprograms devices as directed by physician to achieve optimal pacemaker performance
Provides full diagnostic reports from external monitoring and device checks to allow for adequate provider follow-up and/or adjustment
Coordinates daily function of the pacemaker or defibrillator clinic(s)
Manages patient enrollment, equipment requests, alert management, and patient education
Performs device checks on patients, either in the office or trans-telephonically
Troubleshoots missed transmissions including basic identification of poor monitor connectivity or other remote monitoring malfunctions and immediate contact of no-show patients to ensure rescheduling
Uses clinical judgment to prioritize device alerts and abnormal transmissions per established policies and protocols and notifies physician or non-physician practitioners of urgent issues requiring further attention

Required

Associate's Degree in Nursing or
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Cardiovascular, Life Science, or other related field
3 years experience working with cardiac devices
Ability to interpret arrhythmias from both intracardiac and surface electrograms and identify normal vs. abnormal device function
Ability to troubleshoot basic, intermediate, and advanced device issues
Ability to perform device interrogations, pacemaker telephone checks, and remote device transmissions
Must demonstrate triage skills in evaluating reports and communicating by ensuing effective, efficient, and safe patient care
Knowledge of cardiac rhythm management, cardiac devices, and cardiovascular physiology

American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
CCT - Certified Cardiographic Technician CCI - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
RCES -Reg Cardiac Electrophysiology Spec CCI - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
