Responsibilities
Study and analyze blueprints, schematics, and other project documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction workers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors
Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction
Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components
Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project
Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops
Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
Establish and maintain tendering processes and conduct negotiations

Qualification
Required
Education and/or experience equivalent to a high school diploma
5+ years of experience in Specialty-trades role, such as Construction Estimation, Jobsite Coordination, Project Management, etc
Mechanical construction experience in a specialty trade (HVAC, Refrigeration, Energy Management/Controls) equivalent to a Journeyman (4+ years) field is a plus
Familiar with both basic and advanced mechanical system design practices
Able to manage multiple assignments, setting and balancing competing priorities with strong organizational skills and multi-tasking capability
Able to solve problems, apply good judgement and make decisions that have significant impact on the team's credibility, operations, and service
Able to effectively use typical business tools including E-Mail, Word, Excel, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, etc
Familiar with automated, on-screen takeoff, estimating software, or drafting software, (i.e. PlanSwift, Quickpen, QuoteSoft, FastEst, AutoCAD, Revit)
Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget, contributing to the overall success of the organization
Excellent verbal, nonverbal and written communication and presentation skills
Strong customer service skills, including an ability to proactively address customer issues and concerns and ability to forge strong working relationships with customers and coworkers
