Corporate Vice President - Technical Enterprise Architect (Insurance Industry)

This role focuses on leveraging deep technology skills and expertise in enterprise architecture management to drive digital transformation and optimize technology landscapes.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain comprehensive enterprise architecture frameworks using LeanIX to map business processes, applications, and technology infrastructure specific to the insurance sector
Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of cloud-based solutions across NYL hybrid model (Colo and AWS), ensuring alignment with insurance industry requirements such as compliance, data security, and scalability
Create and maintain strategic IT roadmaps that support business goals, incorporating LeanIX for application portfolio management, assessing emerging technology and AWS cloud services for infrastructure modernization
Partner with business leaders, product owners, and IT teams to translate insurance business needs into technical solutions, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, or insurance-specific regulations)
Assess and optimize the existing technology stack, identifying opportunities to leverage AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, other) and cloud-native architectures to enhance performance and reduce costs by identifying opportunities for simplification, consolidation, and decommissioning
Establish governance frameworks for architecture standards management, ensuring compliance with insurance industry regulations and best practices for data privacy and security. Support NYL Domain Architecture community to analyze our landscape and develop and shepherd standards proposals through the governance process
Drive digital transformation initiatives by integrating emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning, other) into the insurance ecosystem, leveraging AWS tools and services
Utilize LeanIX to document, analyze, and optimize the enterprise architecture, providing visibility into business/technology roadmaps, application dependencies, technology lifecycles, and IT costs
Identify and mitigate risks related to implementation of technology, ensuring robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans tailored to insurance operations
Guide and mentor junior architects and support NYL Lead and Domain architecture community and technical teams, ensuring we are improving consistency in delivery and helping them execute their roles effectively in EA Management processes

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
7+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, with at least 3 years in the insurance industry
Proven expertise in LeanIX for enterprise architecture management (or equivalent)
Extensive experience designing and implementing solutions on AWS, including compute, storage, networking, serverless architecture, others a plus
Hands-on experience with digital transformation and cloud migration strategies (e.g., rehosting, re-platforming, refactoring)
Deep knowledge of AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, ECS, EKS) and cloud-native architectures
Proficiency in Lucid Chart and LeanIX (or similar) for modeling enterprise architectures and managing IT landscapes
Familiarity with insurance-specific technologies, such as policy administration systems, claims management platforms, or actuarial tools
Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, Disaster Recovery, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines
Strong Microsoft skills (Excel/PowerPoint)
Ability to leverage Generative AI to enhance and inform your deliverables
Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards relevant to the insurance industry
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering business value
Leadership and collaboration skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams

Preferred

Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) preferred
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
TOGAF Certification
LeanIX Certified Professional (or equivalent experience in LeanIX or similar tool
Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) or equivalent
