Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of high-performing backend engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, security, and operational excellence
Drive the technical strategy for our core Accounts, Authentication, and Authorization systems
Innovate on our authentication stack, exploring and implementing the latest standards like passkeys to enhance user security and experience at scale
Architect the next generation of our identity and authorization platforms, building generic, scalable systems based on modern principles like Relationship-Based Access Control (ReBAC) to enable fine-grained, temporal access control for all services
Own the technical vision for the end-to-end user lifecycle, ensuring data integrity, privacy, and compliance by design
Provide architectural guidance on complex distributed systems, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and secure for billions of daily requests
Partner with recruiting to build a diverse and inclusive team, attracting and retaining top engineering talent
Qualification
Required
BS, M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or related field
3+ years of experience in people management leading backend teams
8+ years of industry experience
Extensive experience as an engineer in a fast-paced, platform-focused development environment
Proven experience with large-scale distributed system design, performance optimization, and reliability
A strong product sense and the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
A growth mindset—you're eager to expand your skill set and carve out your career path in a hyper-growth setting
Preferred
Preferred experience with modern authentication protocols (e.g., OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML) and emerging standards (e.g., Passkeys, WebAuthn)
Experience designing and building authorization systems; familiarity with models like ReBAC, ABAC, or Zanzibar is a strong plus
