Responsibilities
Define and drive the global alternative content strategy in alignment with IMAX’s corporate growth objectives
Anticipate industry trends (music, sports, gaming, cultural events) to proactively position IMAX as a leader in alternative programming
Build a multi-year roadmap for content acquisition, distribution, and audience development
Source and negotiate deals with major event producers, studios, gaming publishers, music labels, and sports leagues
Establish and maintain high-level relationships with key partners to develop long-term pipelines
Evaluate business models (revenue share, licensing, joint ventures) and lead deal structuring
Oversee the selection, programming, and scheduling of alternative content events globally
Partner with regional distribution teams to tailor releases for local audiences while maintaining global consistency
Ensure smooth operational delivery across exhibition partners, including scheduling, technical specs, and marketing alignment
Partner with Marketing to develop campaigns that expand audience awareness and engagement
Work with Legal, Finance, and Operations to execute agreements and ensure operational excellence
Establish KPIs and reporting mechanisms to measure ROI, audience reach, and partner satisfaction
Present performance updates and strategic recommendations to executive leadership
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience in content acquisition, distribution, or business development within entertainment, live events, sports, music, or gaming
Proven success leading alternative content / event cinema strategies at scale
Strong negotiation and deal-making track record at the senior leadership level
Deep network across studios, live events, sports, gaming, or music industries
Excellent strategic thinking, financial acumen, and communication skills
Experience managing global partnerships and multicultural teams
