Research Assistant I/II/III

Auburn University is seeking candidates for Research Assistant positions within the Biosystems Engineering department. The selected individuals will provide professional and technical assistance with research programs focused on agricultural wastewater treatment and bioreactor development.

Responsibilities

Assist principal investigator
Assists in the development of project plans and laboratory protocols
Perform and supervise wastewater bioreactor research activities
Summarize data from research and stakeholder engagements
Prepare technical reports and presentations to support publication
Perform various other duties as assigned by supervisor with regards to sustainable wastewater engineering practices

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or Agriculture for Level I
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or Agriculture and 2 years of experience in research practices and protocols relevant to the position for Level II
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or Agriculture and 4 years of experience in research practices and protocols relevant to the position for Level III
Valid driver's license
Documented experience and/or the ability to conduct job duties in environmental engineering and sustainable agriculture
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
Demonstrated technical excellence and ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Basic computer skills
Basic skills with electronic instrumentation in the laboratory

Preferred

Research experience and knowledge in bioreactor development & design
Experimental design for bioreactor performance analyses
Computational modeling of flow systems and bioreactors
Biological wastewater engineering; microbial culturing procedures
Various analytical instruments such as GC/MS, HPLC, TOC/TN, Spectrophotometry
Knowledge/experience with chemical and biochemical laboratory procedures
