Director of Academic Personnel
The University of California, Riverside is seeking a Director of Academic Personnel to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for academic personnel functions. This role involves managing appointments, reviews, and compliance for various academic personnel categories, while also serving as a key advisor on academic HR matters.

Responsibilities
Serves as the principal advisor and subject matter expert on all academic personnel matters
Provides strategic leadership, policy interpretation, and operational oversight for a broad range of academic personnel functions
Supports all academic personnel operations for the Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE)
Leads academic personnel planning and service delivery, including recruitment, onboarding, staffing, compensation, academic reviews, and ASE appointments
Ensures policy compliance, consistency, and timely execution of academic HR actions
Contributes to the development and implementation of internal guidelines, delivers training, and drives process improvement initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
Master's degree in related field
6 - 10 years of related experience
Requires advanced knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret systemwide, organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR
Advanced knowledge of organization and college goals, priorities and values and the legal and human implications of decisions
Ability to analyze complex management issues, develop project scope and solutions, give professional advice to senior officials and make critical decisions regarding personnel
Thorough knowledge of trends in academia, especially in areas of academic planning, human resource management and administration
Demonstrated initiative, tact and planning skills
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
Advanced political acumen
Advanced knowledge of systemwide and organization policies, union contracts, procedures and practices that govern academic HR administration
Excellent critical and innovative thinking to address complex issues and present nuanced analyses
