Assistant Professor of Music - Music and Technology
Tulane University is hiring an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) specializing in music and technology for the Newcomb Department of Music. The role involves teaching music technology courses, supervising student projects, and collaborating on the development of the Music and Technology BFA and potential new MFA programs.

Responsibilities
Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music technology with a 2-2 load. Classes may include but are not limited to digital production and sound recording, history of electronic and computer music, introduction to acoustics, sound design, digital music ensemble, interactive media, and sound studies
Supervising student projects and internships
Developing and maintaining an innovative research, publication and creative agenda
Working with faculty and administration in the Department of Music to continue the development of the BFA in Music and Technology and the potential design of a new MFA in the area
Working with faculty and administration in the Department of Music and the University to continue a shared interdisciplinary discussion on music and technology
Participate in service activities at the departmental, school, and university levels
Collaborate in the supervision and maintenance of the Department of Music’s music and technology facilities and equipment
Qualification
Required
PhD or DMA with a focus on music and technology
Experience with some of the following: electronic music composition, sound design, interactive media, AI
Experience with programming languages and software development for musical applications
Experience with acoustics and audio signal processing
Teaching experience in higher education or equivalent professional training experience
Active engagement with current emerging technologies in music and critical trends in the research on the topic
