Responsibilities

Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements
Collaborate across multiple disciplines/functions (i.e. structural/thermal analyses and electrical engineering) to solve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced, team environment
Validate design fit and functionality by rapid prototyping and/or simulation
Support the factory and suppliers with product integration
Participate in design peer reviews, resolving action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions
Occasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers is generally required. International and longer duration travel assignments are available but optional

Required

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted
Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical design, documentation and fabrication
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred

Experience in the specification, design, development, production and testing of undersea systems and electronics packaging. Knowledge of design for long term submergence, sealing, and corrosion resistance
Experience on DoD programs
Experience with PTC CREO and PDM
Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T experience
Experience managing financial and schedule performance of mechanical tasking
Working knowledge of Military and Commercial Specifications
Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems while working as part of a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with configuration management systems
Experience with 3-D modeling software
Experience with creating engineering drawings/prints
Experience with metal fabrication and/or assembly joining techniques (fasteners, rivets, inserts), or welding and/or bonding
