Electro-Optical Chief Engineer

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of electro-optical imaging systems, including evaluating and modeling sensor performance, working with optical, electrical and software engineering to ensure all components meet the system requirements
Drive system architecture decisions, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and manufacturability
Provide technical leadership to engineering teams, fostering innovation and collaboration
Conduct feasibility studies, requirements analysis, and risk assessments for new projects
Oversee the development of detailed design documentation, including specifications, schematics, and test plans
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of electro-optical imaging systems into larger platforms
Manage technical aspects of customer engagements, including presentations, reviews, and troubleshooting
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, applying them to enhance system capabilities

Required

Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education
10+ years of experience in electro-optical system design and development
Proven expertise in designing and integrating optical systems, including lenses, detectors, lasers, and imaging components
Proficient with MATLAB
Experience with simulation and modeling tools (e.g., Zemax, Code V)
Demonstrated leadership skills and a track record of managing complex technical projects
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required

Preferred

Experience in defense, aerospace, or other regulated industries
Knowledge of ITAR/EAR regulations and compliance
Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing electro-optical systems
Current active DoD Security clearance highly desirable
