Start in 2026 SummerVeritiv is the leading full-service provider of packaging solutions, and they are seeking a Data Science Intern to work on data science projects that drive strategic business objectives. The intern will be involved in managing large datasets, extracting insights, and solving business problems while collaborating with the Data Analytics team.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with multiple internal customers on projects and presentations
Identify opportunities to streamline process improvements
Take ownership of a project and then assist other team members to support company initiatives
Design and develop algorithms and models to use against large datasets to create business insights; Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experience and revenue
Effectively communicate insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical leaders and business customers/partners; Present recommendations in a confident manner to influence execution of recommendation
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a Masters in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Math, Statistics, etc.) is strongly preferred
1- 2 years of experience in computer science or data science modeling
Knowledgeable in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Recommendation systems, Search Algorithms, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI
Proficiency in Python and associated analytics and ML libraries
Strong knowledge in SQL
Proficient utilizing statistical techniques to identify key insights that help solve business problems
Background in presenting complex information to large groups to facilitate strategic business decisions
Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to work quickly and efficiently
Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required
Must be highly motivated, flexible and deadline driven
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Strong planning and organization skills are required
Strong problem-solving and attention to detail skills are required
The ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
Bachelor's Degree In Progress
Preferred
Knowledge in version control systems (e.g., Git) and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) is a plus
