Responsibilities

Assembles instrument trays for operating rooms and oversees daily operations of all activities that relate to the reprocessing of reusable medical supplies and instrumentation

Ensure all team members follow proper operational procedures

Assumes responsibility, in collaboration with SPD Supervisor, for scheduling new employee orientation, on-the-job training, and in-service education and facility quality assurance programs as needed

Completes some of the documentation required by facility related to inventory/equipment requests and repairs

Maintains a professional relationship with all facility’s departments as necessary to ensure effective, efficient support to the patient caregivers

Prepares instruments and supplies through cleaning, packing, sterilizing, and storing procedures

Performs equipment distribution and routing cleaning and maintenance

Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards

Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures

Qualification

Certified Sterile Processing TechnicianHSPA CertificationCRCST CertificationCBSPD CertificationHealthcare experience

Required

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification through HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association), CRCST, or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) (CSPDT)

Two years of experience in a healthcare based sterile processing department
