Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2 - Bronx ATC
The Office of Addiction Services and Supports is dedicated to providing support for individuals with addiction issues. They are seeking a Psychiatrist to conduct psychiatric evaluations, make diagnoses, and collaborate with clinical staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Carry out psychiatric examinations and assessments
Make diagnoses
Write physician’s orders
Determine the need for and carry out consultations with external psychiatric personnel and managed care companies
Educate patients individually
Participate with other clinical staff on the treatment team
Respond to psychiatric emergencies
Carry out discharge planning and post discharge referral
Carry out quality improvement activities
Supervise a Nurse Practitioner Psychiatry
Other tasks as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must possess a license to practice medicine in New York State
Certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or by a foreign board which is clearly equivalent in its requirements (for Psychiatrist 2)
Proof of satisfactory completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for entrance into their certifying exam (for Psychiatrist 1)
Must be eligible for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs which must be maintained for continued employment
Candidates must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs
Prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL)
Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC) that includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks
All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee's employment application may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment
Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information
Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR)
Benefits
The Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program allows public service employees to have the remaining balance on direct loans forgiven after 120 qualifying payments are made under an accepted repayment plan while working full-time for an eligible employer. New York State is an eligible employer.
