They are seeking a part-time Construction Technician to perform on-site observation of construction work, ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications, while also documenting daily activities and conducting material tests.

Responsibilities
Physically performs field-required tests and inspections
Prepares daily reports, item entries, and documents test results, attends progress meetings with the contractor, owner and project engineer
Assures the quality of the contractor’s work
Maintains daily logs of inspections and reviews any discrepancies with the proper parties
In the course of business, the member will be required to operate a company vehicle. A mandatory prerequisite to operating a company vehicle is maintaining an acceptable driving record
Qualification
Required
Good communication and documentation skills (Word, Excel, Internet based document management)
Ability to perform with minimal supervision
General knowledge of construction techniques
Ability to read plans and specifications
Proven ability to distribute learned knowledge to other Construction Observers and Material Testing Technicians
Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs
Ability to work at and easily maneuver around construction sites in various weather conditions
Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding and trenches
Ability to meet the criteria established by the Federal Government for operation of nuclear density gauge equipment
Preferred
Knowledge and experience with UDOT and/or other municipal government construction management procedures
Certifications: WAQTC, ACI, UDOT IQP, a plus, with the willingness to add certifications as needed
Experience with UDOT and municipal project construction with an emphasis on roadways and bridges
