Senior Imaging Technologist (M-Th 2130-0800) CT/DX- Radiology Downtown Campus
The University of Iowa Health Care Downtown Campus is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist to work with physicians in the diagnosis of patients through various imaging procedures. The role involves assisting physicians, maintaining equipment, preparing patients for procedures, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities
Assists physicians with imaging procedures
Completes continuing education in order to maintain Permit to Practice and ARRT registry
Interviews patients and records appropriate clinical history relative to CT and diagnostic procedures
Introduces self, calls the guests by name, explains the examination to the patient. Provides care and protection of patients during procedures, assuming care for the emotional, psychological and physical needs, while adhering to TJC Patient Safety Goals
Maintains equipment in the work area and reports down time to the appropriate personnel
Identifies, accesses and prepares medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Prepares and assists with or administers materials, including opaque media, contrast media and barium, while adhering to patient safety goals
Prepares patients for extensive CT and diagnostic radiologic procedures by determining technical factors and procedures appropriate for patient's age, processing films and scheduling examinations properly. Operates radiographic CT and diagnostic imaging equipment within the department, practicing appropriate radiation protection and safety
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required
Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required
Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required
