PHARMACY TECH SUPERVISOR

UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Tech Supervisor to coordinate and oversee pharmacy technician duties, including scheduling and project assignments. The role involves supervising pharmacy techs, providing training, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures while maintaining patient safety across various age groups.

Responsibilities

SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure. Supervise employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives
TECHNICIAN - Perform duties of Tech I and II as required
SUPERVISION - Supervise and oversee activities of lower level technical staff to include scheduling and project assignment; select, train and evaluate division personnel; implement discipline and termination procedures
TRAINING - Coordinate design and implement section orientation and training programs
MEDICATIONS - Ensure compounding and dispensing of medications is accurate and timely to include IV solutions and other sterile products as required by practice site
POLICY & PROCEDURE - Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures; identify and recommend areas of improvement; prepare and maintain a variety of reports; analyze and interpret reports as required
COMPLIANCE - Ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State and local laws and UNM Hospitals' policies and procedures
REPORTS - Prepare and maintain a variety of reports; analyze and interpret reports as required
LIAISON - Serve as a liaison for assigned area; coordinate activities in collaboration with other staff professionals, divisions, departments and organizations; may chair steering committees
SPECIAL PROJECTS - Assist with planning and coordinating of special projects, events and the area quality improvement program; provide and coordinate staff training
MEETINGS - Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations
POLICY & PROCEDURE - Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures and/or guidelines within assigned area
PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Required

High School or GED Equivalent
Program Graduate
Pharmacy Tech
3 years directly related experience
Certified Pharmacy Technician in NM w/in 60 days
Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people
Sig Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials req PPE
Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required

Preferred

Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
