Responsibilities
Own core backend systems in Ruby (Rails or services), from design to production
Ship features end-to-end across APIs, data models, background jobs, and performance
Build reliable integrations with banking/accounting data sources
Raise the bar on testing, observability, security, and deployment practices
Work directly with users, design, and ops to turn problems into simple solutions
Establish engineering standards and help hire the early team
Qualification
Required
6+ years of experience in engineering
5+ years building production systems in Ruby
Strong SQL/Postgres skills
Experience with queues/background processing
Ability to move fast and own outcomes
Care about craft and reliability
Ability to simplify complex workflows into clear, maintainable code
Strong communication skills
Ability to thrive in a high-agency startup environment
Preferred
Experience with Ruby on Rails
Experience in a startup environment
Experience with APIs, data models, and background jobs
Experience with testing, observability, security, and deployment practices
