Responsibilities

Teach 30 contact hours each year in the Communication Arts Department

Serve on departmental, divisional and institutional committees

Hold six office hours per week, some of which must be on campus

Pursue professional development opportunities related to discipline and pedagogy

Teach a standard load of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester, consisting primarily of Communication courses, with a focus on Speech 101

Manage a large Speech and Debate team, including coaching and guiding students through competitions

Create and teach upper-division courses within the department

Required

Master's degree in Communication

At least 2 years of experience teaching Communication courses

At least 2 years of experience coaching a speech and debate team

Skilled at working with members of the campus community, hosting tournaments, traveling with the speech team, building relationships with other schools, and creating opportunities for speech team students to improve both on and off campus

Knowledgeable about current trends in the field of Communication

Ability and knowledge to create and teach upper-division courses within the department
