The State of Delaware is seeking a Deputy Attorney General to represent the Department of Human Resources. This role involves providing legal advice on labor and employment matters, employee benefits, and representing DHR in court and administrative proceedings.

Providing legal advice on matters related to labor and employment
Employee benefits
Merit Rules
Collective bargaining
Personnel management
Drafting and reviewing legislation and regulations
Procurement law compliance
Drafting and reviewing contracts
Requests for proposals and MOUs
Freedom of Information Act ("FOIA") compliance
Representing DHR and/or DHR officers and employees in court and administrative proceedings
Handling additional assignments as directed by the State Solicitor, Deputy State Solicitor, Unit Head, or Assistant Unit Head
Qualification
Required
Membership in Delaware Bar is required
Proficient in employment law
Ability to work independently
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to communicate clearly with client agencies
Demonstrated legal ability
Thorough knowledge of relevant laws and court rules
Satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire
Direct deposit of paychecks is required as a condition of hire
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred
Prior litigation and general counsel experience
Ability to take a proactive approach to assisting agency clients
Ability to work with State agencies to identify potential issues and assist State agencies to address such issues
