Responsibilities

Support day-to-day creation of news and feature content across digital websites

Conduct fast, accurate research and background sourcing for breaking, trending, and enterprise stories

Pull and analyze public documents (lawsuits, police reports, filings) to support coverage

Perform fact-checking across a wide range of beats, including politics, entertainment, social justice, and culture

Monitor social media platforms and online communities to surface trends and story leads

Identify and contact stakeholders, sources, and experts; coordinate outreach and interviews

Transcribe and summarize interviews or hearings with accuracy and attention to detail

Assist editors with story development, content packaging, and digital optimization (SEO, headlines, tagging)

Source visual assets (images, video, embeds) and ensure proper licensing/usage

Maintain editorial calendars, contact databases, and tracking systems

Serve as a reliable utility player during breaking news or high-volume publishing days
