Responsibilities
Lead technical resource on mid/high complexity Power Tool New Product Development projects
Provide clear technical information to cross functional teammates, Project Leaders and Global Engineering teams, facilitating trade-off decisions
Establish test regimens for components and assemblies within project scope with minimal guidance; deliver complete data analysis to support design recommendations
Serve as a technical resource and provide consultation/mentorship to engineering and non-engineering teammates alike
Apply first principles to create free body diagrams and develop static and/or dynamic models of new systems, leading the design analytically and supporting decision-making through rigorous engineering analysis
Perform mechanical stress analysis on linear and non-linear systems
Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve technical challenges
Execute tolerance stack analyses (statistical and geometric preferred)
Design and analyze gear-driven systems and mechanisms, including sound and vibration/response of dynamic systems
Demonstrate system-level thinking—maintaining a holistic view of how interdisciplinary design decisions affect user needs and project delivery
Collaborate proactively with interdisciplinary peers to plan for and address issues that could impact schedule, cost, performance, or delivery of user needs
Create and execute plans to inform early-stage development using both empirical and analytical methods; develop structured approaches to investigate root cause and troubleshoot designs under cost, schedule, performance, and other constraints
Operate effectively in a high-paced and dynamic development environment
Motivate and support learning—actively seek opportunities to learn and teach others about new discoveries and best practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
5 years of machine design experience, minimum
Strong proficiency in 3D CAD Modeling
Deep mechanical aptitude is required including a broad knowledge of engineering materials, machine component design, mechanical properties and an understanding of the manufacturing processes associated with these materials
Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% (travel includes Domestic and International)
Genuine interest in tools of the construction trades and a passion for innovative product development
