District Bridge Engineer (Transportation Engineer I, II, III, or IV) - Atlanta, TX
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is seeking a District Bridge Engineer to oversee the maintenance of bridges within the Atlanta District. The role involves applying advanced engineering principles to ensure structural integrity and compliance with safety standards, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on high-impact infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities
Answers technical and policy questions related to bridge inspection and maintains bridge inspection data; analyzes data and provides summaries
Reviews designed and detailed drawings of bridges and related structures prepared by other engineers and technicians
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
Assists districts with bridge inspection-related matters
Schedules, assigns and oversees bridge inspection activities
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
Coordinates and/or monitors consultant contracts related projects
Develops short-term and long-term goals and coordinates planning activities and resources required to meet goals
Maintains a critical bridge list and coordinates with the Bridge Division, area engineers and other district staff on critical findings involving state-maintained bridges to have them posted, repaired and/or closed to the traveling public
Monitors contract performance, evaluates contract deliverables, reviews billing documentation, monitors the consultant's compliance with the terms of the contract, and/or prepares and delivers a written evaluation of the consultant's performance
Performs highly advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts
Performs, reviews and monitors detailed investigations, data collection, analyses and coordination of bridge related research and recommends cost effective project level design for new, rehabilitated and reconstructed bridges
Recommends prioritization of bridge replacement, bridge rehabilitation and repair of damaged bridges
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS
Transportation Engineer I: 4 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
Transportation Engineer II: 5 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
Transportation Engineer III: 6 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
Transportation Engineer IV: 7 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle
Licensed Prof Engineer
IMPORTANT: For Bridge Inspection: Must have completed a comprehensive training course based on the Bridge Inspector's Training Manual or NICET Level III or IV certification in Bridge Safety Inspection within (1) year of date of hire
Professional engineers licensed in another state in the United States, but not currently licensed in the State of Texas, must (1) meet the license requirements of the State of Texas Engineering Practices Act, (2) obtain a professional engineering license from the State of Texas within six (6) months of the date of hire, and (3) sign an agreement to that effect as a condition of employment
