Clinical Director - Violence Intervention Advocacy Program
Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a Clinical Director for their Violence Intervention Advocacy Program (VIAP). The Clinical Director will manage all aspects of program administration and operation, focusing on financial management, strategic planning, personnel management, and public relations to ensure effective program delivery and compliance with standards.

Responsibilities
Develops, implements and manages projects and/or initiatives for the Violence Intervention Advocacy Program
Oversees and supports the development and implementation of systems activities to ensure effective operations and compliance with established standards and/or contracted goals & objectives
Ensures VIAP operates in compliance with all contractual requirements, standards of care, and that infrastructure is in place to ensure sound fiscal and operational management
Works in tandem with the Development office to secure funds, donations and grants to facilitate donor cultivation and stewardship in order to meet the budgetary requirements of the program
Oversees all grant related activities which may include: database management, reporting, grant writing; monitoring of funded programs or agencies to ensure compliance; report preparation and writing; and assisting with developing and distributing communications, brochures and educational materials
Evaluates projects or initiatives to determine effectiveness and recommends changes/improvements based on findings
Works to develop long and short range strategic planning for VIAP
Uses data to determine status of program activities, develops procedures to address program challenges and oversees the implementation of new procedures
Oversees the implementation of all clinical client services, to ensure appropriate and quality service delivery
Develops and provides In Service trainings to medical staff on Trauma Informed Care and VIAP client population
Serves as a leader, team builder, and problem solver and collaborates with all BMC providers of trauma informed care
Develops Emergency Medicine VIAP elective rotation requirements, provides supervision, and completes rotation evaluation
Works with existing partners to ensure seamless delivery of services for high need clients
Seeks out additional partnerships to ensure program can connect clients to a range of services including but not limited to; mental health and substance abuse treatment, housing, education and life skills training and employment opportunities
Chairs weekly clinical meeting to discuss on-going cases; intervenes in unusual clinical situations and instructs staff how to proceed
Utilizes hospital’s cultural beliefs as the basis for decision making and to support the hospital’s mission and goals
Assures that all staff conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, to ensure that exceptional patient care may be provided
Oversees the VIAP Program Manager and provides support to manage personnel issues and frontline team
Ensures culturally appropriate continuum of services for clients
Champions staff professional development, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the VIAP team
Oversees delivery of all services provided by VIAP and assures that all protocols are followed accordingly
Designs job descriptions, quarterly expectations, performance measures and work development plans for all staff
Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided
Fosters staff wellness in the context of vicarious trauma by developing and implementing resources, activities, and protocols that support self-care, resilience, and overall well-being
Responsible for Boston City Wide Hospital Initiative, and reporting to Mayor’s office
Cultivates and maintains strong partnerships with community-based organizations and institutional partners to strengthen an ecosystem of care, ensuring seamless referrals, consultation, and collaboration
Represents VIAP and provides leadership in the Health Alliance for Violence Intervention (HAVI)
Supports and encourages VIAP staff participation at the national level through the Hospital Alliance for Violence Intervention, enabling opportunities for team members to engage in various work groups and contribute to national efforts
Raises the visibility of VIAP through branding, presence in the community, and marketing
Attends community and national events in an effort to build and maintain positive relationships
Collaborates with the Data and Research Manager to develop and implements a data management system; ensures timely and accurate data collection
Works directly with statisticians to evaluate data to assess program progress and effectiveness
Coordinates with departmental and hospital leadership to address programmatic needs and advance the shared mission of quality patient care
Writes the quarterly progress reports and annual progress reports for submission to the external funding agency/sponsors
Ensure such reports are prepared and submitted for all federal, state, city, or private agencies
Follows established hospital infection control and safety procedures
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in Social Work or related field
Minimum of 5 years clinical experience working in an urban area with diverse populations and vulnerable clients
Minimum 3 years of program administration and staff management experience
Expertise in securing city and state grant funding which includes writing and managing grants
Possess and maintain a current, valid Massachusetts driver's license and successfully complete a motor vehicle driving records check
Licensed as a clinical social worker (strongly preferred)
Ability to work with persons of varying social, cultural and economic backgrounds
Proficient with standard Microsoft programs (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers
Ability to communicate effectively in formal and oral presentations
