Director of Relay Experience, Torch Relays
LA28 is the organizing committee for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, focused on creating an inclusive and accessible Games experience. The Director of Relay Experience will shape the fan experience along the relay routes, driving strategy and overseeing operational delivery for the Torch Relays.

Responsibilities
Develop holistic experiential strategy for the relays
Write creative briefs to guide concepting of key components of the relays
Manage external operational partner(s), overseeing creative development, project planning and execution
Coordinate with the broader LA28 RLY team to effectively plan & deliver key components of the relays
Collaborate with commercial teams to ideate, sell, and integrate Partner activations
Work cross-functionally with other LA28 functional areas (FAs) and external stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment
Manage operational budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial constraints
Qualification
Required
Minimum 8+ years in experiential marketing, event production, or brand activations
Ability to work on-site in an open office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA
Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods
Willingness to travel and work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
2025-2027: approx. 30-40% annually for stakeholder meetings, observation opportunities, site-checks, etc
2028: expectation to be on the road with the Torch Relays
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Highly effective creative leader with the ability to see ideas through to execution
Track record of successfully delivering large-scale, multi-faceted and operationally challenging event production
Ability to self-manage multiple projects and tight timelines
In-depth understanding of the live events industry, including logistical, technical, and regulatory considerations
Up to date on marketing trends, delivering culturally relevant activations
Strong ability to navigate and align cross-functional stakeholder interests
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
Understanding of and sensitivity to various cultures and traditions
Preferred
Agency and mobile tour experience preferred
