2026 Graduate - Health Systems Engineer/Analyst
Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory is seeking talented individuals to join their Health and Human-Machine Systems Group as Health Systems Engineers/Analysts. The role involves collaborating with engineers and scientists to design and operationalize advanced solutions in healthcare and human-machine systems, addressing operational challenges through innovative technologies and data-driven processes.

Responsibilities
You will collaborate with other engineers, scientists, and technical experts to investigate, evaluate, analyze, and prototype technologies and operational solutions
You will interface with operational stakeholders to understand and document their needs, and translate them into well-defined requirements to facilitate system design and development, analysis, modeling and simulation (M&S), and test or evaluation (T&E)
You will apply knowledge of healthcare and emerging technologies to help define new and innovative ways to address operational challenges, while establishing cross-organizational relationships to increase collaboration
You will support the development, documentation, review, and presentation of work products for a variety of audiences in accordance with APL's high-quality standards
You will also support design and peer reviews to inform and gather feedback on technical approaches and work products
Qualification
Required
Possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research, or other related technical degree with a strong track record of academic performance
Have demonstrated experience in at least one of the following: Data analysis and/or M&S using such as Python, R, or Matlab
Have demonstrated experience in at least one of the following: Software/model development using Python or other object-oriented programming languages
Have demonstrated experience in at least one of the following: Developing data pipelines for analysis and modeling applications
Have demonstrated experience in at least one of the following: Systems engineering using Cameo or MagicDraw
Have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and have demonstrated success while working within a team environment
Are able to travel occasionally to attend meetings with our government sponsors and operational stakeholders
Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship
Preferred
Possess a Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research, or other related technical degree with a strong track record of academic performance
Have experience in leading technical projects and have shown success in developing innovative technical proposals to facilitate advances in healthcare
Have experience in a hospital or healthcare environment
