Staff Software Engineer, Payments
Tesla is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Payments team, focused on building and scaling payment processing systems. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that enhance payment systems and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient payment processing systems for Tesla's products and services
Develop and maintain API integrations with third-party payment processors, banks, and other financial institutions
Implement best practices in security, data privacy, and compliance to ensure the protection of sensitive customer data
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure solutions align with system design, operational needs and end-user impact
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall growth and development of the engineering team
Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in the payments/software engineering industry to identify new opportunities and drive innovation
Contribute to system architecture and design, especially where AI, automation and operational scale intersect
Develop workflows that leverage AI to improve operations (support, on-call, etc.)
Qualification
Required
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
5+ years of work experience as a software engineer or in a related role
Well versed in Go
Solid CS fundamentals and experience with CI/CD (Jenkins, Argo, etc), containerization (Docker, K8s, etc) and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
Experience with large language models, AI agents, prompt engineering, and AI platforms (e.g. OpenAI, HuggingFace, LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.)
